I have taught singing for over ten years now to students of all ages and abilities.
I have taught singing at the Stockholm International Theatre School and run the children's choir at the English Church in Stockhom as well as teaching privately. I have prepared students successfully for every level of ABRSM exam as well as for performances, festivals and auditions.
I have taught young people keen to pursue a career in singing; adults who want to improve their technique and/or for whom singing is primarily a means of self-expression; and children who are just at the start of their musical lives.
Here are some things my students have said about me:
Suzanne Fischer (Soprano, Förderpreis: Prize for most promising young artist at Das Lied: international song competition 2015) "When we first met, Emma Harper was an enormous inspiration to me. She was singing the lead role in Handel's Acis & Galatea, in which I was in the chamber chorus, and I was in awe of her Handelian soprano, stage presence, comic timing and lovely nature offstage. After some persuasion, she patiently and generously agreed to work with me on technique and helped me begin to understand my own instrument better. Her guidance at that early stage in my development has been instrumental in my development as a young artist. I will be forever grateful for Emma's canny advice and solid technical grounding in my first years as a singer. I would recommend her to any aspiring singers as a wonderful teacher and mentor."
Jean Rafferty, Writer "Emma Harper is a remarkable singing teacher. I went to her not, as so many people do, because I was good and wanted to be better but because I couldn't sing properly at all. Emma has made the learning process challenging, exciting and above all, fun. She's the best kind of teacher, allowing me to explore the bel canto repertoire I love but also pushing me constantly. I feel with her that we're doing more than having a lesson, we're sharing music."
